Are they really simple questions?
Duck just asked a simple question or should I say it was simple until I went to answer it. Her Bible time thought was to ask someone what is their favorite Bible story and why. I thought this was simple until I had to narrow it down to only one and give a reason why.
The bible teaches us so many important lessons through it's Bible stories, but when I had to narrow it down to only one I found this to be a much harder question to answer. I thought deeply for a minute or two. Okay, let's just say more, but stories such as Ruth, Esther, Daniel, and Joseph came to mind because their life lessons were so powerful, but how do I pick just one that is my "favorite"?
After turning the question back on Duck and hearing her response which will be posted here as well, I was able to come up with the story of Jonah. I feel that he has so many lessons for us to learn today. If we could only be obedient and do what God wants us to do daily then how much easier could our daily lives be? Jonah ran in the opposite direction when God asked him to go to Nineveh and tell those people to repent. How many times in our daily lives to we run the other way when God asks us to do something hard? Do we really think disobedience is going to reap pleasant rewards. No, but we do it any way? Just simple obedience, that should be easy, but just like it wasn't for Jonah, it isn't for us either.
So how about you? Can you answer this simple question? What is your favorite Bible story and why? Can you apply a simple application to it as well? Please share your response with us here too. |
