Introduction to the Historical Books: The History of Israel’s Nationhood

The historical books teach history inside the Bible stories. Each story has a different history. 7It covers a time period at least eight-hundred years in length. From Joshua to Esther’s time. They also go over the monarchy period of the kingdom of Saul, David, and Solomon, and what was eventually divided up into Judah in the South and Israel in the North. From a later perspective the books of Chronicles, Ezra, and Nehemiah tell a story of the Jews in Babylonia from about 597-538 B.C. Esther (my favorite bible story) makes clear what the role of God’s people should be under the rule of the Persians. 8These books are an important part of describing Israel’s history as well as a writing of pure historical facts. They are proof of God’s word, and concrete evidence of what miracles He does for His people. From them we can learn about the relationship God has with His people. He has a very strong amount of faithfulness and *mere love for all of us, and He will do anything to guide, us and lead us, through the thick and thin.  

Putting on the Armor of God

Good evening everyone,
I know it has been some time since I posted anything on our blog, but now school has started up you will see more and more posts published. We are studying Bible Road Trip for school this year and one of the weekly assignments are to post a blog entry on what we learned this week. Kiddo, aka Duck has written her first in a series of articles to blog today so I will share with you what she wrote about.

 

Putting on the Armor of God

Psalm 119:10-12

 I seek you with all my heart;
    do not let me stray from your commands.
 I have hidden your word in my heart
    that I might not sin against you.
 Praise be to you, Lord;
    teach me your decrees.

      We can not have God in our hearts unless we know His word by heart. If we don’t know what He has to tell us than how can we back ourselves up during trials or conflicts? Paul uses an example in Ephesians 6:17 ‘’ Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.’’ What good would a knight be without a sword? Kind of useless, and unable to defend, right? Well, as Christians we should know and have memorized at least most of what God has to say, or at a minimum know where to find it in the Bible. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 13 that we should not only hear ‘’The Word’’ but understand it as well. We should be able to share with others what we learned because we not only heard or read it, but we understood what it said.

God's Love is BiG!

 

 

 

     God’s amazing love for you is unbelievable and indescribable. He will always love us no matter what faults we have or what sins we have committed. Jesus paid a high price for us, just to show us how much he loves us and cares for us. Don’t shy away from him, run to Him with everything! He loves you so much He was willing to give His own life in a horrible death to save us from our sins. Think about it… a man with no sin, a perfect blameless man, died a horrible death being beaten and abused so that he could show us how much He loves and cares for us. His love is amazing! He will always be there for you no matter how big or small your problems are. He will never fail you. God wants to give you the best, and everything He thinks you deserve. Without Jesus dying on the cross to save us why would we want to live? He’s the reason we live. We should learn to want God’s will. Are you living the way He wants you to live? He LOVES you sooo much. Let his love pour out over you and consume your heart. If you’re not talking to God then you don’t have a relationship with Him. Pray to Him and ask Him to wrap His arms around you and show you His AMAZING all powerful love. Run toward God, and don’t take your eyes of Him.  

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!  2 Corinthians 5:17

Written by Duck this morning to summarize what she learned from her DNOW (Discipleship Now) weekend of fun this past weekend when the Liberty University College Missions Group came out to our church.

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

The clothes we where are an example of a Christian girl who lives for God. Do we want to set a good example of who God is, or a bad one? In a book I read; A Young Woman’s Guide to Making Right Choices by Elizabeth George. She says, ‘’ You can make a powerful statement by dressing in a fresh, pure, innocent style. Yes, you can wear clothes that are cute, fashionable, clean, neat, and still follow God’s guide-lines. If you concentrate on what will be pleasing to God, on following Him and His Word, you should be just fine.’’ 

Be Who You Are:

‘’Who you are at home is who you are.’’

Galatians 5:22-23

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

 The way we act at home should be the way we act at church, school, and work. Often people act harsh at home and don’t treat their family right, but they go places and act perfect like they live for God.  It’s like we are lying without saying a word. We should all learn to act the same way we do in public at home. This means, yes, treating your family right (your parents, brothers, and sisters). The Golden rule says to treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Luke 6:31

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Even people you don’t like or don’t get along with well you should treat with love, kindness, and respect. This is what God is telling us we should do. If we want someone to be positive to us we need to be positive to them.

God's Tender Love

  God  will always love you and care for you no matter what you do that might be wrong. He always knows what’s in our best interest. He will never do anything to put us in harm’s way, or hurt us.

Romans 8:38-39

‘’ For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, ³⁹ neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’’

  In your heart do you really believe that God loves us no matter what we do or say wrong? Sometimes we do enough bad that we forget God is there to forgive us for it. Often we cover Him up with the sin in our lives, and forget about Him. He won’t forgive us of our sins if we don’t ask Him and tell Him what we did wrong.

  We are like Christian from Pilgrim’s Progress, he carried a big huge sack on his back that resembled all his sin. When he lost the sack he felt so much lighter, and he felt closer to God.

  ‘’ Presently he came to a place where there was a hill by the side of the road, and upon the hill he saw the very thing for which he was longing. There stood the Cross, and the moment little Christian began to climb the path that led to it he felt that the bands which fastened his burden were breaking. Then it fell from his shoulders and rolled to the bottom of the hill, and when he turned to see what had become of it he found that it was quite gone…."

Always remember little Christian and how once he lost his sin he felt so much better. Even the little thing we do will pile up and eventually become big.

God's Hands

 God can always see the end of our problems; we have to learn to trust Him, impatience makes waiting for our problems to end even harder.

 ‘’Do you wait patiently for God to work things out? Being upset won’t make problems go away, but they will make you miserable. Remember that every problem has an end, and God sees and knows just when that end will come…” ~ Keys for Kids~ A Long Wait

Psalm 37:7

‘’Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.’’

  Do you ever sit somewhere impatiently like at a traffic light, or in a long line of traffic and think that it will never end. The bible tells us that God has his hand in everything.

Deuteronomy 31:8

‘’It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you: He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’’

  This verse is to remind us that no matter how big or small our problem is, that God has His hand in it and He won’t let anything happen that he does not think is right for us.

Small Tasks

  No matter how small the job is God always appreciates it. The littlest jobs we do in life always matter to God. It’s the attitude we do these things with that matters the most. God likes it much better when we do things for Him with a cheerful heart.

1 Corinthians 14:40

‘’But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.’’

  God has set aside different works for everyone to do, he expects us to do them no matter how big or small they are. You might think that doing this task is not important because it is so small, but to God it matters a lot. Someone needs to do this task or it won’t get done.                    

1 Corinthians 12:22

‘’Those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary’’.     

  Some people might have what seems to be the big task that everyone notices’, but our little tasks matter too. Try to make sure that you recognize other people as much as you would like to be recognized.

  We always have to remember that even if no one recognizes’ the small tasks we do in life, that God does .He will always appreciate them.
