Homemade Pizza and Sauce

Homemade Pizza and Sauce

Dough:

1 1/2 c water
1 Tbsp yeast
1/8 c olive oil
1/2 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Let rest for about 5 minutes:
Add 3 c flour (any flour)
my favorite way is: 2 c wheat flour
                               1 c white flour
1 Tbsp flax seed (ground)
1 Tbsp wheat germ
approximately 1/2 c finely cut kale
  • Let Rise
I used my friend Ms. Debbie's pizza dough recipe as a base recipe and have tweaked it to meet my family needs.

Pizza Sauce:

1 ~ 15oz can tomato sauce (pizza flavor is perfect but not necessary)
1 ~ 6oz can tomato paste
1 ~ 6oz can water (add to tomato paste can) then put in pan
1 1/2 Tbsp garlic (minced)
1 small diced onion
2 Tbsp oregano
1 Tbsp ground flax seed
1 Tbsp wheat germ
approximately 1/8 c finely cut kale
1 tsp salt

Directions:

Saute onion and garlic until onions are transparent. Add tomato sauce, paste and water. Add remaining ingredients and heat on low setting while waiting on dough to rise.

This will make more sauce than what you will need. Store remaining ingredients in refrigerator for future pizzas.

Toppings of my Choice:

green peppers
tomatos
pepperoni
ham
mushrooms
kale (mine, but not my husbands)
onions
bacon bits

Preheat oven to 390 degrees. Once pizza dough has risen, place on a greased pan of your choice and add your favorite toppings. I find that if I place my dough on a bed of flax seed it prevents it from sticking.

Bake at 390 degrees for our 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
