Memorial Day Is Upon Us...

A Day To Remember Not Celebrate

Remember Memorial Day and It's Fallen

Another Memorial Day is upon us. We are less than one week away from the observation of it and yet this question in me still arises. Why do we take such a solemn occasion and add the word Happy to the front of it and set of fireworks and have picnics and family celebrations to it?

This has never made sense to me.  It makes even less sense now I have a husband who spent 23 years in the Military and will suffer from his invisible wounds for the rest of his life.  I am blessed I have my husband, as many families no longer do. Their Service Member paid the ultimate sacrifice so we could wish everyone a "Happy" Memorial Day.  I am sure if you were to ask anyone of those grieving families if this is a “happy” day they would surely say no.

Memorial Day isn't a day set aside to picnic.  It is a solemn day of Remembrance. It is a day to remember all those people who lost their lives protecting our Country for the tyranny of hateful and destructive people who mean nothing more than harm to us. It is a day to be thankful for the Service Members sacrifices so at we can continue to live in a Country where our freedoms are who we are to our very core of being and what our Country was founded upon.

·       These freedoms are the very things that allows us to speak our minds even when others do not agree.

·       These freedoms allow us the right to bear arms to protect our homes and families against people who wish to do us harm.

·       These freedoms allow us to publically protest against such things that we as a group we may not agree upon.

·       These freedoms allow us to hold our heads high as a Nation and allow us to fly our American flags even higher.

Freedom that is what our Nation is founded upon. That is what our men and women in uniform know to be true to the very core of their being.  It has molded their character into the finest 1% that America has known through the past, in the present, and long into the future.

The Servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives for the sake of duty and honor deserve to be recognized and remembered on this quickly approaching holiday we call Memorial Day.
Please take the time this coming weekend to remember our Fallen Heroes and the sacrifices they made. Don't forget as you are remembering to say a special prayer, to pray for their loved ones they left behind.  Memorial Day isn't a day of celebration for them.  For many of them, it is a day of great sadness, loneliness, and grieving.  It is a day many families will shed a tear or more whether it be openly expressed or behind the closed doors of their hearts. The pain of remembering may be a hard and raw emotion to them or it may be older one that is just a memory, but every Fallen Hero is loved and missed by someone.  We owe it to them and their families to "Remember" this day and not get lost in the hype of picnics, celebrations, and fireworks.

Please, I have a simple request, which I ask coming from the place of Honoring my Fallen Dad and living with a wounded husband, to take the time to remember and to teach our next generation, that being our children, the real meaning behind Memorial Day.  Let us not forget our Fallen Heroes coming weekend.

Honoring Two Heroes Today

Honoring my Dad, my Hero today.

He died at the age of 65, on February 8, 2008 due to injuries he sustained in the Vietnam War.

My dad was a gentle and humble man which contributed to him being an amazing dad. I am so very blessed that God made me his daughter.  He is missed and loved beyond words.  Days such as today is only one day to publicly honor him, but in my heart, I honor him everyday.

I love you, Dad!!!
I will always honor you and all you gave.  All give some and some give all.
You Gave ALL!!!!!

Honoring a Fallen Soldier as his family remembers him today.

Honoring SSG Jonathan Killian Dozier.

He gave his life for his Country during Operation Iraqi Freedom on January 9, 2008.

He died having received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his acts of Heroism.

He is missed dearly by the family he left behind.

Join me today in praying for the family of SSG J.K. Dozier as they spend this Memorial Day at Arlington Cemetery Honoring and remembering their Hero, their son.

Honoring Memorial Day

Honoring our Fallen Heroes and Praying for the Families They Left Behind

As you go about your day today, be sure reflect upon our Fallen Heroes and the lives they lived as well as be in constant prayer for our Gold Star Families they left behind.

Today should be a quiet day of reflection.

Reflect upon our Fallen Heroes and the lives they lived as well as the sacrifices they made. By doing this we will also remember the families they left behind as they mourn and remember the loss of their loved ones with hearts which are crying today.

So many times we forget these Service Members were "ordinary" people too. They were people who were loved by many. They were sons and daughters, they were husbands and wives and they were friends to many who loved them dearly.

Let us do our part to "Never Forget" our Fallen.  They died a Hero and it is up to us to be sure they aren't forgotten.  By doing this we will show our support to the many Gold Star Families who are touched directly by the loss of their Hero.

Remember, today should a day of prayer and reflection to Honor those who gave all.  By doing this we will touch the lives of the families who are left behind.

Honoring the Memory of Our Fallen Heroes

With Memorial Day approaching I am here to remind you Memorial Day is a day to remember and reflect on the lives of our fallen Heroes. So many times we show our appreciation and gratitude towards our living Heroes, but we forget there is a day to honor them, it is called Veteran's Day.

Let us take this time now to reflect on the lives and the sacrifices of our fallen Hero this Memorial Day.

These men and women who gave all were everyday people like you and me. They had lives that made them husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends and co-workers, and lastly they shared a common bond of brother and sisterhood to their fellow Service Members. Their lives touched many people around them. They lived a life that showed true heroism and courage. So much so that they laid down their life for the very freedoms we here in America take for granted.

How many people do you see on the news that protest the right to their freedoms in which they feel were being violated, but not one time did they think about the Heroes who lived, fought, and died so their very rights and freedoms would be protected. The rights of the American people do not come free. They come at a cost. Thankfully by those Service Members who were willing to give all they had in order for us to have all we want.

There is a HUGE price for freedom and our American Heroes paid that debt. We need to be sure to show a sense of gratitude at this time of the year so their lives and memories won't be forgotten.

Please take this time to reflect on the "real" meaning of the weekend.  It isn't about the picnics or the pool parties. It isn't about the hot dogs or the hamburgers.

It is about the lives these Heroes lived and lost. They each represent a picture of what true dedication to Country really means.

When you stop to take the time to really think about the sacrifices they made, could you do it?

Thank You fallen Heroes for having paid the ultimate sacrifice of your life so that we as a Nation can continue to live in the land of the free.

We can't take that for granted or the lives of our Heroes will have been taken in vain.
This just isn't an option.

Take the time to reflect on what these men and women gave to you and me.
Their lives and memories will never be forgotten!

A Day of Quiet Reflection… you are not forgotten

memorial day 4                                                                             Memorial Day

A quiet day of reflection for those who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our Country.

Let us not forget the price they paid for all that we as a Country enjoy today.

memorial day 3

                                           FREEDOM

Think about your ability to worship and praise God whenever you want.

Think about your ability to say what you wish whenever you want.

Think about your ability to hang your flag on your flag pole in your own yard everyday.

Think about your ability to vote and elect your public officials when it is time for elections.

Think about your ability to go to school every day and learn all that you want.

Think about your ability to be secure in your own house without someone just coming in whenever they want.

Think about all that you have and all that you do everyday as a result of the sacrifices our Service members past and present have made.

mem day 2  These are all freedoms we daily take for granted, but were paid for by the sacrifices of our fearless Service Members, in crisis’ all over the world. To them this day of remembrance we say, "Thank You, for all you did in the name of freedom for us today.” We will never forget all that you have done and all that you have given as we go about your daily lives. I will fly my flag with honor and pride in remembrance of you today as a visible way to say, Thank You, you have not been forgotten.
